Dharmanagar, May 11 (TIWN): Two police men and one Assam Rifle personnel was injured when a major fire broke out at newly constructed building of Ananda Bazaar police station in Tripura’s North District.
Case diaries and documents related to old cases were also gutted in fire. However, cops claim that the papers were not important. According to police the fire started inside a locked storeroom at around 11.30 pm on Saturday. A constable stationed there saw the smoke and called other police staff and they managed to douse the fire after two hours with the help of two fire engines.
“It was a lot of smoke, due to the nature of the building, the way it's built; but there was a great deal of fire in the center area where the fire initially took place. So honestly there was a lot of heat in this building at that time," a cop of the police station says.
Fire tenders personnel claimed that short circuit is the most likely cause. Meanwhile, senior police official including SP of Tripura North District Abhijit Saptarishi rushed to Ananda Bazaar police station.
