SANTIRBAZAR, 14 July (TIWN): Malaria remains a major public health concern in Tripura. The NE states having such geographically setting and approximately 4 % of country’s population contribute 10 to 12 % of total malaria cases every year.
Malaria usually occurs after the rains, when mosquitoes breed in water collections. Malaria can affect all age groups. SO it is important to diagnose and treat malaria according to guidelines. The ASHA workers have an important role in malaria control.
They can help in early diagnosis, complete treatment and timely referral of malaria cases, thus saving many lives. They can also spread awareness in the community regarding source reduction and preventive measures like use of bed nets.
For effective capacity building of the people a training session is organized on Malariology at BC Manu PHC. This present module is one such component for the training the grass root Malaria workers .More the 55 Asha workers were present in the Occasion.
