AGARTALA, July 11 (TIWN): Gramin Bank and Co-operative bank to stay out from the bank strike called on July12- 13 by AIBEA and AIBOA.
Along with the nation, bank employees in Tripura under the banner of All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) and All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA) have called for a country-wide strike in all the Banks on July 12-13 to oppose attempts to denigrate Public Sector Banks and protest against the proposed merger and consolidation of Banks with a view to divert the people’s attention from the Himalayan bad loans in Banks.
The AIBEA and AIBOA also called an All India strike on July 12-13 in five Associate banks on the issue.
The five Associate Banks are -State Bank of Travancore (SBT), State Bank of Mysore (SBM), State Bank of Hyderabad (SBH), State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur (SBBJ) and State Bank of Patiala (SBP). The AIBEA and AIBOA are protesting against the closure of the banks and takeover by State Bank of India (SBI).
There were demonstrations in all the centres across the country on June 20 and also in Agartala, Dharnas were staged in all State Capitals on June 30 over the denigration of PSBs. Reportedly, there was increasing attacks being heaped on the public sector banks and the challenges faced by it.
