AGARTALA, June 24 (TIWN): Secretary Border Management Susheel Kumar on Friday arrived in the state to take a stalk of the border fencing work in Tripura. Arriving in the state on Friday he held meeting with the officials of the government at secretariat.
However, he is scheduled to visit the border areas on Saturday to take a note of work progress of the border fencing.
The 1982 batch IAS officer of UP cadre, Susheel Kumar, Special Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has been appointed as Secretary (Border Management).
It is to be mentioned here that The Indo-Bangladesh border is highly leaky making the illegal movement of people and goods a regular affair. The territory and the demographic composition of the border area make it favorable for Bangladeshis to sneak into India and also to get easily assimilated among the local masses. Along with illegal entry, migration from Bangladesh into India, especially in Tripura has primarily been driven by the mission for better economic opportunities, which is also another way to intrude into the Indian land for hampering the socio-economic movement of the country.
