AGARTALA, June 6 (TIWN): With the aim to provide immediate service during the disaster prone incidents in Tripura a mega mock drill was organised by NDRF for preparing themselves for the management of the situation during the floods in the state.
As a part of the mock drill, the NDRF rescue team operator’s practiced for several hours in the LN Bari lake to make themselves efficient for taking steps during flood like emergency in the state.
A special team of Fire and Rescue Services personnel conducted a mock drill using an inflatable rubber boat to rescue flood victims as part of disaster management and rescue operations training in LN Bari lake on Monday.
As a part of the practice the team “rescued” a person struggling in lake and brought him back to the bank in the boat. It explained how a person could escape from floodwaters using a tube, empty bottle, balloon, empty cylinder, empty plastic pot and various methods of administering first aid to victims.
Having an evacuation plan in place before a flood occurs can help avoid confusion and prevent injuries and property damage. A thorough evacuation plan should include, conditions that will activate the plan, chain of command, Emergency functions and who will perform them, Specific evacuation procedures, including routes and exits, procedures for accounting for personnel, customers and visitors, equipment for personnel, review the plan with workers.
