KAMALPUR, May 16 (TIWN): More than 15 years got passed already without any result for the negligence of GRIEF and due to the lack of proper supervision. Further, the reluctance of state PWD(R&B) intensified the problem more along with the continuous aggression of river.
The fate of Kumarghat-Kailasahar road already became a dreadful way to ply for the commuters. The maximum vehicles which used to ply in those two places now used to take another path through Fatikroy covering almost 15 kilometers more.
Some vehicles which used to ply on the old road had to face danger and fear of accident at every moment. Still they used to ply on a bye-pass road which used to save almost 5 kilometer distance on Kumarghat-Kailasahar road by taking a short route from Notingcharra to Shantipur. But the road especially at Shantipur area turned a den of danger.
The river Manu continued to take the areas of the road in its grip fro last five to six years. Due to huge embezzlement in protection works the aggression of the river continued.
As a result, the road became narrow. On the other hand, the rain water used to fall on the bye-pass road from the main road which remained almost 30 feet high from the bye-pass road.
All these made the narrow road slippery. Several times the PWD(R&B) authorities made a visit to the area. But it made no result. Along with the road many houses also came into danger. Now, if the department and the state government would adopt any step in this regard, became the question of the hour.
