AGARTALA, May 15 (TIWN): Gambling has gripped the whole Dharmanagar subdivision since last few months.

Locals are alleging that in the tenure of Abhijit Saptarshi, the rate of gambling had been decreased, but with the transfer of the SP the gambling racket has been spiked up again in state.

The name of the present SP is Manik Das, who has been recently replaced with the earlier SP.

Now a days police has increased the number of raids in gambling activity zones, but most likely police is doing so to have some profit out of these.

The allegation towards the police raised when just one day before a football match organized by Dharmanagar PS,  police had cught few gamblers on last night at around 10.30 pm. But without informing the media, police released them at 7 am today.

The amount which was shown by police, is controversial, said sources. SDPO Rajdeep Deb is in leave now and the OC of Dharmanagar PS is Bijay Sen.
