KAMALPUR, March 14 (TIWN): The much-discussed Putiacharra NWDPRA scam under the Salema Agricultural Sub-division, here at Kamalpur, took an interesting turn recently. The newly appointed VLW (Village Level Worker) in place of scamster and suspended Pradip Roy started to ensure the beneficiaries that, all the works would be done freshly. In the meantime, the officials could say nothing but to request the beneficiaries to not enquire any more about the RTI application they filed for having the complete information of the Project.

Last year, the Salema Agricultural Sub-division caught the media captions for huge embezzlement in the Putiacharra NWDPRA Project. The beneficiaries of the Project at the town adjacent Noagaon village, unearthed the scam by seeking information through RTI filing.

The project which was started in 2009-10 fiscal was scheduled to end in 2014-15 fiscal. And as one of the beneficiaries Sudip Ghosh of Noagaon sought information for the last year, it got revealed that, almost 15,00,000 of rupees were embezzled in that year. At once the implementing officer cum VLW Pradip Roy came under scanner.

Along with him, two CPI-M leaders also came under scanner. The beneficiaries filed another RTI to have the complete information. Meanwhile Pradip Roy got suspended. CPI-M party also took measures against the two scamsters though for namesake.

Now, the authority denied providing the rest of the information. Further, to ease the beneficiaries, a new story of doing the works freshly, been spread by the new VLW.

But when asked about the official documents in this regard, he failed to show any.

More interestingly, the officials also could not say a single word in this regard. It got speculated that, the corrupted party leaders took the VLW into his grip and made him to spread the story.
