AGARTALA, Feb 27 (TIWN): Minister for Public Works Ratan Bhowmik on Saturday inaugurated a programme of Tripura Leather Artist Association at Panchabati Bazar.
The two-day long programme was organized with the initiatives of the Dukli divisional committee.
During the two-day long event, various cultural programmes have been organized. Besides, a blood donation camp was also organized.
It is to be mentioned here that leather craft is the practice of crafting various design on the leather giving it news design and style.
Leather carving entails using metal implements to compress moistened leather in such a way as to give a three-dimensional appearance to a two-dimensional surface. The surface of the leather is not intended to be cut through, as would be done in filigree.
Besides, Leather stamping involves the use of shaped implements to create an imprint onto a leather surface, often by striking the stamps with a mallet.
It has been mentioned that an art and draw competition is expected to be conducted on February 28 and other events are also expected to be organized as a part of the programme.
However, during the programme Former Minister Anil Sarkar was also remembered and various initiatives by the association have been discussed at the programme.
