AGARTALA, Feb 3 (TIWN): With the initiatives of the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit, a week-long special camp programme has been inaugurated on Wednesday at Banhi Vidya Peeth Girls HS School.
The programme was inaugurated by Director of Secondary Education IAS Dr. P. K Goyal in the presence of Agartala Municipal Councillor Kamalesh Paul, Haripada Chakraborty, DIG of Boarder Security Force, OSD of RMSA Dr. Bithika Chowdhury and others.
To mark the programme, a blood donation camp has been organized.
Besides, in has been mentioned that on February 4, an awareness programme on child marriage, its demerits and domestic violence will be discussed. The programme will be chaired by Chairperson for Tripura Commission for Women Purnima Roy.
Later, on February 5 during the first phase a Safai Abhiyan will be conducted in the School Premises and other the second phase of the programme, an awareness programme on Health and Hygiene has been scheduled to be conducted.
The programme is expected to be chaired by AGMC and GBP Hospital Doctor Anuka Bhowmik.
It is to be mentioned here that National Service Scheme has been launched under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports in the year 1969.
NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 level working for a campus-community linkage.
The scheme was launched in 37 Universities involving 40,000 students with primary focus on the development of personality of students through community service.
NSS was launched with an aim to inculcate social welfare in students, and to provide service to society without bias.
Besides, the organization to ensure that everyone who is needy gets help to enhance their standard of living and lead a life of dignity.
