Sabroom, September 21 (TIWN): Gambling and illegal selling of liquor is relentlessly active throughout Sabroom Sub Division area, and the condition is more worsening day be day.

 From a secret source it was revealed that police is playing the role of silent spectator. At present, gambling and illicit liquor business has replaced militancy. Illicit foreign liquor get scattered throughout Manu Bazar, Satchand,Rupaichari  and Amlighat along with other areas. Liquor is being sold at a cheap rate in local shops; hence, it has become easy for the school students to taste it. Apart from illegal selling of liquor, illegal gambling has been going on which has created a jittering atmosphere in and around Sabroom Sub Division. A large section of  people have engaged themselves in such anti-social activities. Earlier, tribal youths were totally ignorant of the said gambling. Presently, it scattered throughout hilly areas due to the gamblers. The business has turned profitable for a particular section; most of the people involved in the activity have been suffering a great loss.

The role of the police is doubtful, expressed some of the government employees of the area on condition anonymity. Resentment is gradually brewing up among the natives over the role of police and their apathy to stop this kind of anti-social activities destroying the future of many youths.
