AGARTALA, May 28 (TIWN): Agartala- Sabroom National Highway on Thursday becomes stunned due to the road blockade demanding proper justice for Noor Islam, who had breathed his last mysteriously in the police lock up at Udaipur. The residents had staged protest from 10a.m. in the morning. However, no nut had been cracked regarding this mysterious murder.
It is to be mentioned that 42year old, Noor Islam detained for allegedly harassing PWD official at Udaipur, died under mysterious circumstances in police custody early morning on Friday. However police sources informed that Noor Islam died at R.K. Pur police station due to heart attack. But, family members of the deceased alleged that he was beaten to death by the police.
Noor Islam, a resident of Chanban, was arrested on Thursday from PWD office in Udaipur when he was harassing PWD official, said police. However, Noor Islam's family alleged that the police had beaten him to death, and after he died, his body was sent to Tripura Sundari Hospital and his family was not even informed about it. "Around 10 am, we got the information from a relative of us, working in the hospital that some policemen had dumped him there," they said. Initially, policemen in the hospital told Norishlam's family that he had died due to heart attack.
Meanwhile, heavy police force has been deployed at the morgue of the district hospital where Noor Islam's body has been kept since family members and people hailing from his locality have gathered. MLA Pranajit Sinha Roy and delegates of Human Rights Commission had already visited the house of Noor and demanded proper enquiry to the matter. But still However, no progress of investigation of the mysterious murder has been recorded.
