Agartala, May 27 (TIWN): For the people of Barak Valley and Tripura, the journey by the meter gauge rail route from Badarpur to Agartala set to become a thing of past from 2016. The proposed mega block by NF Railway on Badarpur to Agartala conversion will begin from October this year.
With the mega–block coming into effect from October, for enabling the NF Railway to go for necessary infrastructure and technical build up for the BG track; and finally after its completion, the MG railway line may sink into oblivion.
In this regard, on Sunday the NF Railway (Construction) Chief Administrative Officer Ajit Pandit along with Ravindra Ram, Chief Engineer (Construction), surveyed a part of the Badarpur to Agartala route in a motor-trolley to check the track conditions. The survey was started from the Karimganj station in Assam and was completed at Kumarghat station in Tripura. During the survey Ravindra Ram also checked the working conditions of the existing stations which fell on the way, the railway sources said.
