AGARTALA, May 25 (TIWN): Aiming to raise the Mulberry cultivation at 7 different blocks of Sipahijala District, initiatives have been taken to cultivate over 150 acres of land, said a representative of Handloom, Textiles and Handicraft Department.
Detailing to the issue, representative further said that along with maintaining the cultivation in the newly taken land under MGNREGA scheme, the already cultivated land will also be mended. Altogether, 71 rearing house will be constructed spending Rs. 1.38crore for the beneficiaries who are involved with Mulberry cultivation, said sources.
It was further mentioned that there are 4 clusters in the area and a total of 4590 self-help groups are there in the district. Further, more 48 self-help groups will be included for the benefit of the local people. The members of the groups are under various training so that they can help out the common people in the area, said sources.
