UDAIPUR, May 23 (TIWN): The Udaipur court on Thursday convicted 6 rape accused identified as Raj Kishore Jamatia (30), Naresh Jamatia (18), Manbihari Jamatia (17), Shanjeet Jamatia (17), Ganga Kumar Jamatia (17) and Ananda Jamatia (26).
24 witnesses on Saturday, deposed before the court, later the court recorded the statement of the witness. The special judge Ashish Pal punished Raj Kishor Jamatia, Naresh Jamatia and Ananda Jamatia 20 years of imprisonment under 376 (D) along with a fine of Rs. 20, 000, said sources. On the other hand the remaining 3 convicts are sent to the juvenile court as three of them are under 18year of age, further added.
The incident took place at Khumpwilong Bazaar of Udaipur sub-division when the two of the victims were returning home through the market way after observing puja celebration of the area on October 13, 2014.
The police then registered a complaint against the convicted on case number 31/ 2014 under 376 (D) of IPC act, confirmed sources. S. I Manik Lal Nandi was investigating the case and Public Prosecutor Biplab Kanti Datta was dealing with the case, added by sources.
However, the families of the victims are now satisfied that finally the accused are going to be punished.
