KHOWAI, May 21 (TIWN): On the one hand, the state government is busy in launching water treatment plant and on the other side inhabitants of Belchorra Bazar tilla of West Belchora ADC village under Khowai Poddobill block are hit by an acute water crisis. The area constitutes of 97 families and the only source of their drinking water is the contaminated water from the streams and brooks.

The inhabitants of the area face serious trouble in fetching water during the drought season. Water scarcity looms large at this area as there is no proper source of drinking water. Unfortunately, they drink water from the dirty streams flowing in the village.

Reportedly, that the ADC DWS (Drinking Water & Sanitation) department has set up a deep tube well in the area 1 year back, but even after the implementation of the deep tube well there is no availability of water and the well is turned out of water since its implementation.

It is alleged by the residents, that the department has set up a deep tube well in the area just for the name sake and there is no accessibility of water even after the implementation of the tube well.

Keeping an eye on the critical condition of the villagers the Panchayat has set up a tube well in the area but more than 100 families are dependent on this tube well.  Sometimes the water pressure dips so low that the people returns with an empty bucket and unfortunately they are bound to drink the contaminated water from a dirty pool.

However, the villagers have reported the issue of acute water crisis to Panchayat Secretary Nikunj Singh & ADC Village chairman Dipali Debbarma. Officially, after receiving complain, both of them have informed the issue to the DWS authority but so far no action is taken.

Other than Belchora Bazar tilla, water scarcity is also reported from different areas including Radhanagar, Rath Tilla, teen goria, Dhollajae and many more.
