AGARTALA, May 10 (TIWN): Senior and most prominent journalist of the state Tripura Praloy Dhar passed away on Saturday late night at Agartala ILS Hospital due to a pancreas disease. However his untimely death has brought a vacuity in the field of journalism here in the state.
Dhar died at the age of only 48 years on Saturday late night. Chief Minister Manik sarkar along with the leaders of political divide and the media persons of different organisation have conveyed their heartfelt grief in his demise.
Proloy Dhar was the younger brother of CPI-M state secretary Bijan Dhar. Dhar survived with his wife and son. He was ailing since past few days. He was a prominent journalist and was bureau chief of local TV Channel, “Akash Tripura”. He was also a school teacher.
Praloy Dhar was the first person here in Tripura who has introduced a local TV network system across the state.
However from ILS hospital where he was undergoing treatment for the past many days Dhar on Saturday morning was brought to “Akash Tripura” TV Channel office where CPI-M leader Goutam Das and office staffs offered a floral tribute to Dhar and his demise and lead his soul to rest in peace.
Later his body was taken to Agartala Press Club, where Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and journalists association of the state had conveyed their heartfelt grief and sorrow. The body was then taken to his resident at Agartala Bijoy Kumar Chowmuhni and then to the cremation ground.
