KAILASHAHAR / AGARTALA, May 4 (TIWN): Despite numerous complaints regarding the maintenance work of 18 government quarters in Kailashahar sub-division the PWD department under pressure from various fields is allegedly working for is using low quality materials creating havoc among the residents.
According to sources, around Rs. 7 lakh was sanctioned in the year 2014-15 for the maintenance of the 18 government quarters. But the entire amount was misappropriated by some PWD officials and CPI-M heavy weight leaders, said sources.
It is to be mentioned here that in the last three years Rs. 22 lakh was sanctioned for the maintenance of the 18 government quarters. But due to the pressure of some CPI-M local leaders only 40 percent of sanctioned money was spent for maintenance work and the remaining 60 percent money was used by the local CPI-M leaders, the source added.
According to the locals, the concerned PWD department is using very low quality material for the maintenance of the quarter.
Beside, though the maintenance work was completed in January but still the conditions of the 18 government quarters are in deplorable condition. As a result the residents of the quarters are facing hurdles.
