Belonia, May 2 (TIWN): Seasonal cyclonic rains and thunder storms disrupted power supply and transport movement besides damaging a large number of houses in South Tripura. According to the official sources, rain caused damages to more than 50 houses, one bridge,vehicles including crop-damages.
It is to be mentioned here that at least 10 people were seriously injured in different parts of Tripura due to lightning, accompanied by heavy rains. One people, who were died in the cyclone-related incidents, were shifted to government hospitals, a South Tripura district official said.
"The storms accompanied by rains completely damaged over 50 houses”, said an official with the disaster management unit South Tripura. Moreover, the state's electricity corporation, many electric poles were damaged, power transmission lines brought down and over 20 power distribution stations affected.
Engineers and workers have been working round-the-clock to restore both electric supply for smooth functioning of ADC election .
