KHOWAI, April 22 (TIWN): Another misappropriation of money in Khowai district again comes to limelight. This time the amount is misappropriated in the name of maintenance of a broken bridge.Sources informed that in Sepahihawar of the Khowai-Champahawar Road, a bridge was in broken condition for the last couple of days. However, the PWD of Khowai and Champahawar jointly replaced the bridge with the new one. But the twist comes after passing of 3 months. The broken bridge which was replaced is set near the Bachaibari Higher Secondary School.

Only the bridge is coloured and the other equipments are same as they are in previous condition. But the estimated amount for the work is designated as 23 lakhs 2 thousand 604 rupees. Talking to TIWN Correspondent, Executive Engineer of Khowai sub-division, Pankaj Sutradhar told that,  “We don’t have basic information about this. The work was completed under the instruction of Minister Aghore Debbarma.”

The uninterrupted 22 years stint in power seems to have taken a toll on the financial transparency of the Left Front administration in Tripura. Corruption in implementation of rural development schemes continues unabated.
