AGARTALA, April 21 (TIWN): After a long chase a vehicle bearing number TR01-U-1534 which was carrying illegal woods finally met with an accident at Ganaraj Chowmuhani, here on Tuesday.
According to the forest officials, the chase started from Math Chowmuhani. The forest official tried to stop the vehicle several times but the vehicle dashed the forest official vehicle and tried to flee away.
As a result the driver of the vehicle which was carrying illegal woods falls into a nearby drain. The driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot. But the co-driver namely Biswajit Banasardar resident Camparbazar area was arrested.
After getting the information police personnel from East Agartala Police Station rushed to the spot and took the situation under control.
The co-driver namely Biswajit Banasardar resident Camparbazar was taken to Shalbagan forest office for further investigation, said forest officials.
It is to be mentioned here that the forests across the state are facing serious challenges due to illegal destruction, smuggling of valuable woods.
