AGARTALA, April 20 (TIWN): Road mishap claimed the life of one Krishna Sarkar (45) at Tatali Para under Lefunga Police Station, here on Monday.

According to police, one Maruti Eco van bearing number TR01-AL-0258 of Block Development Officer (BDO) while proceeding towards Bamutia from Agartala side dashed Krishna Sarkar  (45) son of late Sadhu Sarkar resident of Fatikcherra while he was crossing the road.

As a result Krishna Sarkar (45) died on the spot. The driver of the Maruti Eco van fled away after the incident.

After getting the information police personnel from Lefunga Police Station rushed to the spot and seized the vehicle.

Tension is prevailing among the locals due to the incident. Police and TSR personnel have been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident, said police.

A specific case has been registered and a hunt is on to arrest the accused driver, said sops.
