AGARTALA, April 18 (TIWN): A thief from Bangladesh was lynched by an irate mob and another one was critically injured in Kalipali gram under Sonamura Police Station on Friday late night.
According to police, "A gang of four burglars came to the border village of Kalipali gram under Sonamura Police Station on Friday late night at 1.30am. While they were fleeing back with the stolen items, some villagers saw them and alerted other people," police added.
Several villagers immediately reached the spot, but two of the burglars managed to cross over to Bangladesh. One thief was caught and hacked to death by the villagers and another one was critically beaten up by the villagers. As a result the thief received grievous injurious on his body.
After getting the information police personnel from Sonamura Police Station rushed to the spot and immediately shifted the injured thief to GBP Hospital where in the attending doctors said that the condition of the patient is very critical.
A specific case has been registered in this regard, said cops.
It is to be mentioned here that earlier on October 28, three Bangladeshi cattle thieves were lynched by an irate mob in Tripura. Tripura Police later handed over the bodies to Bangladesh police.
On April 6, three Bangladeshi cattle thieves were also hacked to death at Gournagar village in western Tripura.
