Agartala, April 18 (TIWN): Central government sanctioned crores for imparting computer education to all students of government schools. However computer education at all government schools could not be imparted, as 700 computer teachers were terminated. There are computers in schools but no teachers to teach computer to students. Whereas the state government is least interest to start training of computer.
Due to lackluster approach of the government students are being deprived from getting training. According to department sources, for giving computer training some private companies were given the contract. Accordingly the companies recruited computer teachers and computer lab was set up in schools. It’s alleged that motive of them was to make maximum profit from the contract, everything was known to education department.
As per report in 2008 at 150 schools three hundred computer teachers, in 2010 at four hundred computer teachers and later one hundred where teachers were recruited. After joining the teachers came across many problems like nonpayment of salaries and other irregularities. When anyone tired to protest they were fired by the companies. At present all of them are terminated. The companies also fled away from the state. However, the government remained a just a mute spectator. Couple year back the computer teachers resorted to series of demonstraton to draw the attention of government, even resorted to fast unto death for fulfillment of their demands. All went in vain.
