AGARTALA, April 14 (TIWN): State gears up to celebrate “Poila Baishakh†or Bengali New Year. It is one of the major occasions of the Bengalis. To celebrate the occasion with splendor and happiness, people of the State had prepared their own plans.
Besides that the temples are ready to witness huge throng of visitors. The sweet shops are ready in making variety of sweets so that they earn attract huge number of customers. The business men were prepared with their “Hal Khata” to mark the beginning of New Year business.
On the auspicious day, in the morning, people were dressed in traditional outfit and will visit the major temples like Laxmi Narayan Bari, Ramkthakur Ashram, and Loknath Bari. As a part of the New Year, a fair is also organized at the temple premises. On the other hand, the price of vegetables and fish is marking high. As a result it is impossible for the middle class people to make the both ends meet. But despite that they are trying heart and soul to focus smile in the face of the people.
It is to be mention that Poila Baishakh is the first day of the Bengali calendar celebrated on April 15th by the Bengali people and by minor Bengali communities in Tripura.
