AGARTALA, April 12 (TIWN): A Marriage Registration Camp was held at Netaji Chowhumani on Sunday. The camp was inaugurated by the MLA Asish Saha. Among other dignitaries the position of Guest of Honour is presided over by AMC Mayor in Council, Biswanath Saha. A total of 750 certificates had been issued in the camp.
Inaugurating the camp, MLA Asish Saha told that , in earlier days, the marriage fixed by parents becomes the fate of the girls. Due to this, crimes on women like domestic violence, torture, rape, murder had been increasing rapidly. In many cases it is seen that after marriage the in-laws and husbands of the newlywed bride denies of the marriage. Therefore, in order to curve this system something legal should be done. So, marriage registration appears as a valid method in order to save the future of the newly wedded brides.
The camp was organized jointly by the Sadar administration and Netaji Play Forum Centre. It is to be mention that the crime on women is increasing at a rapid speed. In every day at least 2 or 3 cases of torture on women is reported. Tripura gradually emerges as the unsafe and unprotective place for the women. In the coming years Tripura State will become a horrible place for the women to live.
