TTAADC election: Notification issued by governor

Agartala, April 4 (TIWN):Notification for Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election was issued by governor P B Acharya on Saturday with this the submission of nomination papers started today. Candidates can submit their nomination papers till 11 April from 11 am to 3 pm. Nineteen returning officers have been appointed by the election commission. Scrutiny would be done on 13 April, last day of withdrawal on 16 April.
The elections to the 30-member Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) will be held on May 3,counting will be held on May 6.
A total of 7,58,554 voters including 3,75,117 women are eligible to exercise their franchise. Out of the 30 seats, two are nominated by the Governor and election would be held for 28 seats.
The Left Front, INPT and IPFT had already announced their candidates last week. BJP and INC yet to announce their candidates.
The TTAADC was formed in January 1982 under the Seventh Schedule of the Constitution and later its powers were promoted by amending the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution in August 1984 to protect and safeguard the political, economic and cultural interests of the tribals.
The tribal council constitutes two third of the state territory and home to the tribals who form one third of the population.
