AGARTALA, April 4 (TIWN): All India Mahila Congress General Secretary cum state in-charge Shehnaz Yasmin Haque on Friday laid emphasis on empowerment of women which would further help them to take part in political field. Haque on Friday held a meeting with the congress women leaders at Udaipur where at least more than 11 women attended.
Haque on Friday addressing the meeting at Udaipur also urged for a necessary financial support for the back tracked women from the NGOs of the state. “Women have to be economically independent so that they could make a decision maker in the political field. Vocational training is required to gear up the Congress women workers. Unless a woman is empowered financially, her status in social and political sector is not ensured. Now, it’s a high time to bring the women in the forefront. It’s time to fight for the rights of women,” Haque added.
Haque came to the state on Friday for threedays to hold meeting with the Congress women workers to strengthen their organization ahead of the ADC elections.
However, according to the source from Tripura Pradesh Women Congress, the Pradesh Women Congress leaders along with Haque will stage a protest against the Union Minister Giriraj Singh’s racist comment on Sonia Gandhi. It is mentionable here that Union minister of state Giriraj Singh has sparked a major controversy by targeting Congress president Sonia Gandhi in racist remarks, questioning whether the party would have accepted her as its chief if the colour of her skin hadn’t been white.
