Agartala, Feb 23 (TIWN): The four daylong conference of CPI (M) state committee would begin with an open rally here at Swami Vivekananda Maidan (formerly known as Astabal ground) on 25 February. The rally would be addressed by CPI (M) general secretary Prakash Karat, politburo members Biman Basu, Brinda Karat and Manik Sarkar. The rally would be presided by Aghore Debbarma. To make the rally a success, CPI (M) has started hectic campaign across the state. According to party sources, more than one lakh people schedule to attend the rally.
After BJP coming to power in Centre, state unit BJP is fast gaining strong hold in the state. The upsurge of right wing radical party is matter of great concern for the ruling CPI (M). State committee would discuss and chalk out plans for countering the right wing party.
Present state unit secretary, Bijan Dhar have completed two terms. In the forthcoming conference CPI (M) would appoint it’s new state secretary. However, according to political observer’s chief minister Manik Sarkar, who is also a politburo member, would have the final say on appointing the state secretary.
The state committee conference being held after completion of branch level, local committee and district committee CPI (M) organizational meeting. The meeting was going since last four months.
