Agartala, February 22 (TIWN): Women should donate blood as much as possible, said Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar after inaugurating a blood donation camp organised by Apanjon Club in Agartala here today.
Saying that the voluntary blood donation movement now became a festival in Tripura, the chief minister urged every clubs and other social organizations to generously conducting blood donation camps to save lives. There is no alternative of blood, he added.
In his address, the chief minister appreciated the initiative of the club authority for organising such blood donation camp and made an appeal to the different club authorities and social organizations to organize eye and posthumous body donation camps too. Tripura has maintained its top position in voluntary blood donation across the country,
Speaking in the blood donation camp, MLA Ashis Saha said that a Library will be set up in the Apanjon Club premises soon by utilizing MLA funds.
In his welcome address, the president of Apanjon Club has expressed several concerns and he appealed to the Chief Minister to take initiative for setting up a park adjacent to the club premises.
As many as 100 people including few women and club members have donated blood in the voluntary blood donation camp, said the club president.
