Agartala, February 21 (TIWN): Protesting a decision adopted by the state government over post pond of recruitment in 500 vacant posts of physically challenged persons, the members of Disabled Unemployed Forum (DUF) are likely to stage stir in Agartala soon. They have already sought time to meet the Chief Secretary over the issue.
According to a press note of DUF, the state government has decided to post pond the recruitment of 500 posts of physically challenged persons. An interview board from Social Welfare and Social Education Department was constituted for the selection of 500 physically challenged persons during the year 2012.
A member of the forum alleged that according to RTE ACT 2009, TET is mandatory for the appointment of teachers under School Education Department. Of the total 500 posts, 175 posts were assigned for teachers, but 325 posts were allocated for LDC, group-D and other which were not under the RTE Act 2009.
But the concerned department did not take any step to fulfill these 325 vacant posts till date. Even, the Social Welfare and Social Education Minister clearly declared that it is not possible to appoint physically challenged persons in 500 posts, said the member.
It was also mentioned in the press not that the Supreme Court had directed each state government to appoint physically challenged persons as special drive after three years interval. The judgment was passed by the Supreme Court in the year 2010. But after 2007 no such special drive was conducted in the state so far.
Following the issue, the members of the forum are decided to stage huge protest over the decision adopted by the state government.
