Agartala, Feb 20 (TIWN): Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Tripura Centre located in Lembucherra, West Tripura and Animal Resource Development Department, Govt. of Tripura of Hajamara Block along with Jana Unnayan Samiti Tripura (JUST) jointly organized mass vaccination camp in cattle, goats, pigs and poultry birds at Temakarik, Hajamara Block of West Tripura district, Tripura on 19th February, Thursday, 2015.

The main aim of organizing such vaccination camp was to aware the livestock owners about the loss incurred due to outbreak of various diseases in livestock and thus taking preventive measures through vaccination in time for protecting the valuable livestock property available in the villages of Tripura.

In the vaccination camp, a total of 87 cattle, pigs and 51 poultry birds were examined by a team of experienced veterinary doctors for general health conditions and treated with various essential medicines and vaccinated against various deadly diseases like foot and mouth disease (FMD), hemorrhagic septicemia (HS) in cattle, swine fever in pigs, ranikhet disease (RD) in poultry birds etc. Notably, 5 young bulls were castrated; one dehorning case and one dystocia case in cattle were handled successfully at the camp. Sixty four (64) farmers attended in the vaccination camp with their animals and poultry birds. Dr. Avijit Haldar, Principal Scientist and Dr. Vinay Singh, Scientist of ICAR, Tripura Centre, West Tripura and Dr. Billo Debbarma, Assistant Director, ARDD, Hajamara Block of West Tripura were present in the vaccination camp. This livestock and poultry vaccination camp has created huge interest and enthusiasm among the farmers. The vaccination camp has brought a great impact on farming community in the locality.
