AGARTALA, February 20 (TIWN): The locals of AD Nagar gheraoed the Post Office (Pin-799003) present at AD Nagar demanding not to shift the post office from its present location to Badharghat stadium complex, here today.
According to the locals, to stop the shifting of the post office they also formed a committee namely “Shanti Committee” and the committee has already sent a letter to the Director of Postal Services in this regard. For the last 50 years we are using this post office now all on a sudden the authorities have decided to shift it to Badharghat stadium complex, how is this possible a member of the committee asked? If required the authorities can open a new post office branch at Badharghat stadium complex.
If needed we will also go to the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar regarding the shifting of post office, the locals added. And if the post office is shifted to Badharghat stadium complex all the peoples of the area will face lots of troubles.
On the other hand, taking to TIWN today Post Master of the post office Rajiv Dutta said that the building using by the post office was on agreement and the agreement is over know. So, the higher officials have decided to shift the post office to Badharghat stadium complex.
However, it to be mention here that tension still prevails in the area.
