Agartala, Feb 19 (TIWN): After long 29 years police nabbed a person convicted of murdering from Sankar Tilla near NIT under Jirania police station Wednesday. The convict Nepal Chandra Bhowmik (51) on 17 January, 1986 murdered Samir Sen in his home. A case was registered by family members of the deceased, accordingly Nepal was arrested.
In 1987, the lower court sentenced him life imprisonment for the murder. Challenging the sentence he appealed Guwahati High Court where he was released on bail. After hearing, the high court upheld the judgement of lower court directing the accused to surrender. After that Nepal went undercover, arrest warrant was issued against him at Jirania and Ranir bazaar police station0
.After remaining absconded for 29 years, police got information from secret sources Nepal has returned back and was staying at Sankar Tilla. On Wednesday police arrested him and produced to court. The court sent the murderer to jail.
