CPI-M’s state committee holds condolence meeting

Agartala, February 15 (TIWN): CPI-M’s Tripura state committee conducted a condolence meeting in memory of veteran communist leader late Anil Sarkar and state committee member late Sirish Bhattacharjee at Rabindra Bhawan here on Sunday.
Chief Minister Manik Sarkar along with many other ministers including Tapan Chakraborty, Badal Chowdhury, Manik Dey, senior party leaders including Bijan Dhar, Goutam Das attended the condolence meeting and paid floral tribute to the memory of late Anil Sarkar and Sirish Bhattacharjee respectively.
Speaking in the meeting, the orators said, Anil Sarkar was known as an unchallenged leader of scheduled castes people of Tripura. He had played a pivotal role in providing relief and shelter to lakhs of refugees sheltered in Tripura during the nine-month-long Bangladesh liberation war in 1971, they added.
‘Poet-minister’ Anil Sarkar breathed his last at the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences in New Delhi on February 09 while state committee member Sirish Bhattacharjee passed away at the age of 73 at Gandhigat quarter on February 6.
