AGARTALA, February 15 (TIWN): Veteran CPI (M) leader and MLA of Surma assembly constituency in Kamalpur Sudhir Das died on Sunday after suffering from brain cancer at AIIMS in New Delhi where he was shifted from Agartala.

Sudhir Das breathed his last at 4.30 p.m. at AIIMS in New Delhi. He was also a minister of the state.

Sudhir Das body would reach Agartala Airport tomorrow around 10 AM in the morning from Delhi. The body will be taken to secretariat, legislative assembly and at his residence, in Kamalpur. His body will be also kept at CPI (M) party office at Melarmath for the public to pay homage.

All political parties cutting across party lines expressed their deep condolences over Mr. Das’s death.
