AGRATALA, Jan 1 (TIWN): They are not government employees. For 22 years, workers under “Rogi Parichalika Samity” were working at the hospital who were paid by the patient parties instead of the hospital authority. However, recently they were discontinued from that facility due to their invalid working conditions but this administrative step left around 140 families in trouble. Now the discontinued workers appealed to the Tripura government to return their rights to work.
“We do not get salaries from the hospital. We are paid by the patient parties and that’s how we were running our family expenses but due to our termination from the hospital, we left helpless,” said an agitating worker in front of Tripura Medical College, Hapania.
“Right now the conditions in my house is that we do not have money even to buy 1 KG rice. If this continues, we will die starving,” said a woman. “My husband is unable to work because he is suffering from severe diseases. With this little money, I used to run my family but now I left empty handed.”
“Whenever we come here, we are removed from the hospital premise. We just want our rights to be given back so that we can start working in the hospital again,” said another protesting woman.
