AGARTALA, Sep 16 (TIWN): In a significant development, 150 voters from 33 families have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after leaving the Tipra Motha party. The joining ceremony was held at Manfrat Bazar on Tuesday afternoon, organized by Takarjala Mandal.
The new members were welcomed with party flags by Minister Bikash Debbarma, along with state general secretary Bipin Debbarma and Mandal president Nirmal Debbarma. This influx of tribal voters into the BJP is seen as a boost to the party's efforts to strengthen its base in the region.
The voters cited the central and state governments' developmental initiatives as the reason for their decision to join the BJP. This move comes ahead of the ADC Village elections, where the Tipra Motha party is expected to face a challenge from the BJP.
