AGARTALA, Sep 10 (TIWN): The Bishalgarh police station, assisted by the Tripura State Rifles (TSR), raided an illicit liquor manufacturing unit run by Balaram Bhowmik in the Kolkolia Durga Chowmuhani area. During the operation, the police destroyed the equipment used for manufacturing the illicit liquor.
Bhowmik allegedly produced country liquor by fermenting rice at his residence and sold it to local youths, contributing to social unrest in the area. Some aware youths secretly captured evidence of Bhowmik's illicit liquor business and shared it on social media, prompting the police to take action.
Bhowmik fled the scene upon learning of the police raid. The police will register a case against him and take strict action if he is found involved in such activities again. After the raid, Bhowmik is reportedly assessing the police administration's power while evading the law.
