AGARTALA, Sep 3 (TIWN) : Governor of Tripura, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, visited Belonia, the district headquarters of South Tripura, and inaugurated a workshop and awareness program on 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' (Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child). The event was organized by the South District Administration in collaboration with the District Education Department at the Sachin Dev Burman Auditorium.
Upon arrival, Governor Nallu was welcomed with a traditional North Indian scarf and gifts. He was then felicitated by the dignitaries present at the event. The Governor inaugurated the program by planting a sapling, symbolizing the importance of nurturing and protecting the girl child.
The program featured discussions by prominent guests, including District Magistrate Hemanta Debbarma, Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, and tribal woman entrepreneur and commercial pilot Captain Bobi Azmiara. Governor Nallu emphasized the significance of the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' initiative and encouraged the community to work towards the empowerment of girls.
During the event, Governor Nallu also distributed awards to students from various schools who demonstrated exceptional achievements. The program concluded with a cultural performance, highlighting the importance of education and empowerment of girls in society.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Zilla Parishad Chairperson Deepak Dutta, Belonia Municipal Council Chairman Nikhil Chandra Gop, MLAs Pramod Reang and Swapna Majumdar.
