AGARTALA, Sep 1 (TIWN): A violent confrontation erupted outside the Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Hospital in Agartala on Monday morning. The incident occurred when sanitation workers from Sulabh Company, who have been working at the hospital for over 20 years, protested against the new contractor, ATSF Company, which has taken over the sanitation services.
The Sulabh workers alleged that the new company is trying to terminate their services and hire new workers under various pretexts. The protesters blocked the hospital entrance and refused to allow ATSF workers to enter, leading to a scuffle between the two groups.
The situation turned chaotic as both sides clashed, with reports of physical altercations and heated exchanges. The Sulabh workers are demanding that their services be continued, citing their long-standing experience and expertise in maintaining the hospital's sanitation.
