BELONIA, Aug 29 (TIWN): A tragic accident occurred on the Belonia-Agartala road, resulting in the death of a truck driver, Narayan Majumdar, from Rajapur. The incident took place on Friday afternoon near Chittamara old market.

According to eyewitnesses, the truck, carrying bricks, overturned, and Majumdar was crushed underneath. Three laborers accompanying him were injured. The fire department team arrived promptly and, with the help of a bulldozer and local residents, rescued the driver. However, he was pronounced dead at the Belonia hospital.

The truck was reportedly on its way from Bosundhara brick kiln to Paikhola when the accident occurred. The driver lost control of the vehicle near Chittamara old market, causing it to overturn. The accident also damaged a Tomtom vehicle, and its driver sustained minor injuries.

Authorities, including Additional SDM Paritosh Biswas and DCM Sanjay Shil, visited the scene to investigate the incident.
