AGARTALA, Aug 20 (TIWN): A disturbing incident unfolded in the Bhattapukur area of Agartala when a woman and her husband, both running a tea and tiffin stall, were allegedly assaulted by a neighboring vendor, Abhijit Pal, over a dispute about collecting government-supplied water.
The woman had gone to fetch water from the supply when Pal obstructed her, leading to a heated exchange. The situation escalated, and Pal reportedly assaulted the woman, hitting her on the ear, and also attacked her husband.
The couple, in pain and distress, made their way to the West Agartala Women's Police Station, where they were directed to seek medical attention. The incident has raised concerns about the increasing aggression over basic necessities like water.
The local community is shocked by the incident, questioning how disputes over essential resources like water can turn violent. The police are investigating the matter, and the couple's allegations will be thoroughly examined.
