AGARTALA, Aug 19 (TIWN): The residents of Khamarbari area under Chharilam block's Aralia Panchayat have been facing a severe drinking water crisis for the past month. The submersible pump and motor responsible for water extraction and supply have been dysfunctional since then.
According to locals, the machinery broke down about a month ago, leaving 18 families struggling to access clean drinking water. Despite repeated requests, the repair work has not been initiated, exacerbating the situation.
Villager Manik Miya approached the media, appealing to the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) to expedite the repair work. DWS officials had visited the site and removed the motor, but the pump remains unrepaired.
The community is facing immense hardship due to the lack of drinking water, and immediate intervention is necessary to resolve the crisis.
