AGARTALA, Aug 16 (TIWN): Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha appealed to cricket bodies to spend more of their wealth on the players. The chief minister was addressing a cricket association award ceremony program at Rabindra Bhawan when he said so. “All the facilities should be prioritized for the players. That should be the focus.”
“Cricket is known as gentlemen’s sport. It started in England in the 16th century, and today, where it has gone. Children started playing it, and today cricket is so big,” CM said.
“When IPL started in India, so much wealth was invested. So when we have that much wealth, why won’t we spend it on its development? I think we should go ahead in that direction,” CM told the Cricket Association members.
CM welcomed the idea of Cricket Academy to be established in Tripura, so that proper training is provided to the aspiring players.
