AGARTALA, Aug 14 (TIWN): In a significant boost to the Congress party, 285 persons from 95 families joined the party in Chawmanu.

The newcomers, who previously belonged to the BJP, Tipra Motha, and CPM, were welcomed by Tripura Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha and MLA Sudip Roy Barman.

The joining ceremony took place at Chhawmanu Bazar, where the new members were given party flags by senior leaders, including former MLA Dibachandra Rangkhal. This development marks a significant gain for the Congress party in the region.
