Agartala, July 24 (TIWN): The Unakoti district branch of the All Tripura Chemists and Druggists Association held its triennial general meeting at Unakoti Kalakhetra in Kailashahar. The meeting, which began at 11 am on Thursday, saw the presence of several dignitaries, including Deputy Drug Controller Kanchan Sinha, state president of the association Samar Bhowmik, and secretary Biswajit Saha.
In his inaugural address, Deputy Drug Controller Kanchan Sinha emphasized the importance of making quality medicines accessible to the general public. He noted that chemists and druggists play a vital role in the healthcare system and that their contribution is essential to its functioning. Sinha also highlighted the need for social awareness, particularly in preventing child marriage, and stressed that the healthcare community has a responsibility to promote social welfare.
During the meeting, Sinha inspected several pharmacies in the city, emphasizing the importance of not selling antibiotics without prescriptions and directing pharmacists to display "No Medicine Without Prescription" stickers. He also reviewed the storage and management of expired medicines and provided guidance on sales regulations. The meeting concluded with the adoption of several proposals aimed at improving the registration process for pharmacies and increasing awareness among business owners.
