Agartala, July 21, 2025 (TIWN): Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma has issued a stern warning to forest thieves, particularly in Sipahijala district, which has become a notorious corridor for smuggling forest resources.
The warning was given during a review meeting of the JICA project at the Shachin Debbarman Memorial Art Centre in Bishramganj.
Debbarma emphasized the importance of protecting the state's green cover and directed forest officials and staff to perform their duties diligently to curb forest-related crimes. He assured that strict action will be taken against those involved in forest smuggling and theft.
The meeting was attended by Sipahijala District Council Chairperson Supriya Das Dutta, district forest officials, and staff, where the minister reviewed the progress of the JICA project and discussed strategies to enhance forest conservation efforts.
