Agartala, July 19, 2025 (TIWN): The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) conducted a demolition drive in Lake Chowmuhani market, removing makeshift shops and structures.

The AMC had previously warned against setting up businesses in sheds, but many vendors had constructed bamboo structures to operate their businesses.

The vendors have demanded that the government provide alternative arrangements for them to conduct their businesses. The AMC's action has sparked concerns about the livelihoods of the vendors affected by the demolition drive.
