AGARTALA, July 15 (TIWN): A Resident of South Tripura District, Bankar area named Purnima Das, is not the only Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) consumer to receive an abnormal bill crossing Rs. 61,000. Since Smart Meter’s installations, many reports have come in where consumers are getting highly unnatural bills across Tripura. Sometimes customers’ bills are close to a lakh! Husband of Purnima Das, Bankar Ward No – 7 alleged that he received a bill with an over Rs. 61,000 charge.

“Last month my bill was Rs. 900, and this month it is Rs. 61,000. How is that possible? How did they calculate ? They (TSECL employees) installed the meter on June 13, 2025 and now the bill is showing Rs.. 61,481 just in one month,” Mr. Das said.

“Tomorrow I am going to the electricity office and complain about it,” he said.
